The new Kinect for Xbox One comes bundled with the console and enables motion- and voice control out of the box. I guess I don't really have anything to compare it to since it has been up there since day one, but I think the main thing it helps is the range. The kinect recognizes me much further away than I imagine it would at a lower height.
